Biking and Another ER Visit

On Wednesday night, August 6, 2012, Lili finally took off and rode her bike all by herself, no training wheels or parents attached. Yay, Lili Jo!!!

Friday, August 10, 2012 -       .
At 9:30am Lili fell off of her bike and split open her chin. So, back to Methodist ER we went. Lili was not at all happy that she might have to have more stitches (Apparently the memory from the last round didn't fade over the past 6 weeks.)

On the way we called Ma-maw Kim, Ma-maw Sheila, and Papa Bill and they all three met us back at the ER. The nurses took her vitals and cleaned out the wound.

Then the doctor came in and checked things out. He really wanted to do stitches, but upon seeing how upset she was he agreed to try gluing it to see if it would work. So, the nurses then put the numbing stuff on and then taped it down really good. We waited for about an hour before the doctor finally came back in.

While she was waiting she (and Monkey and "B") watched a little Phineas and Ferb and played games on Ma-maw's I-Pad. Before the doctor came back into the room, Lili went outside of the room to sit on Papa Bill's lap. She was touching her chin and grinning.

Lili - "Look Papa, I can't feel my chin! ... ... Go ahead, touch it, you can't feel it!"

Papa - "I can feel it, you just can't feel it."

Lili - "No, really, you can't feel it at all!"

Then the Dr came back in and glued the wound shut. He told her she couldn't move or talk for five minutes and if the glue held he'd let her go home without stitches...I think it was pure torture for her, but she didn't move or talk and the glue held, so she was free to go.

Today, while Lili was talking with Daddy she said something to him and he tickled her.

Lili - "You have to stop or you will smile my thing open!"

Cooking Mama...

On the way to church, the girls were playing on their new DS's and Lili, who was playing Cooking Mama tells me, "Mom, I'm making cake pops... ...no, really...in real life on my DS."

Later that same day while at Steak n' Shake with Mamaw Kim and Papa Bill...they wanted to play the toy grabber/claw game. Papa told them that they couldn't do it if they were going to cry when they didn't win anything (like they normally do). Lili said "I won't cry...but my eyes might get a little watery."

Kindergarten Screening...

Last month the kindergarten teachers called each of the Kindergarten-bound preschool kids out of class and did a pre-screening of sorts. Today we received a letter about Lili's pre-screening. Here's what it had to say...

"Kindergarten curriculum has changed significantly over the years. It is now more academic than in years past and more skills are needed before entering Kindergarten. To help us better understand the ability of your child, a pre-screening kindergarten assessment was conducted. The total possible points to acquire was 116. Out of all the students screened, the average score was 89. Your child, Lilian, scored 113 points."

Sounds like she's off to a great start! We're so proud of our Kindergartner!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

They were having Green Eggs and Ham today in Lili's Bright Futures class in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Lili whined and complained the entire morning about how she didn't like green eggs and ham. I explained to her that they are only green because of food coloring, but she was still determined that she didn't like them. I asked her to try at least one bite of them for me and she promised me she would.

After school, when I picked her up, Mrs. Russell told me that not only did Lili try the Green Eggs and Ham, Lili liked the Green Eggs and Ham and ate them all. Guess she's a lot like Sam!

Wonder if she'd like them more if she were in a box with a fox?

Calling all Tooth Fairies...

it's time for another visit to the Robertson home!

This morning, around 8:30am, Lili lost her first tooth, the bottom front tooth on her right. She was very excited.

And now for a Lili-ism (kinda):
After school, she told me that she wanted to write a note to the Tooth Fairy asking her to bring a gift instead of money. I explained to her that the Tooth Fairy only brings money, she's not like Santa or the Easter Bunny. Oh my goodness, you would have thought I told her that there was no Tooth Fairy, Santa, or Easter Bunny...she cried for like 10-15 minutes!

How do I go to Heaven?

Tonight on the way home from going to your first baseball game, a Peoria Chief's game, you wanted to talk about Jesus and Heaven. We talked back and forth for about 15minutes, Lili would ask a question and I would answer it. When we got home, it was late and so we got ready for bed.

While Daddy was tucking you in and saying goodnight, you asked him how you could go to Heaven. He told you and then you guys prayed and asked Jesus into your heart. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you and pray that you grow up to be a strong Christian and love Jesus.
